Parcel delivery relies heavily on the production, availability and price of fuel. Since Sendle began in 2014, we’ve never before passed on a fuel levy. But, like any business, we’re not immune to inflated fuel costs.
From 18 July 2022, we’ll introduce a variable rate fuel surcharge to domestic and international parcel delivery. The surcharge will be reviewed monthly, meaning it may go up, down, stay the same or be removed entirely.

Why a surcharge and not a price increase? We think that part of doing fair business is to be clear about how we do it, not just how much something will cost – no nasty surprises is, after all, one of your Sendler Rights.
In the Sendle dashboard, you’ll see the fuel surcharge as a line item in your Order Summary when you send a parcel. If you’re using an eCommerce integration to send with us, the surcharge will be included in your total shipping cost. If maths is your thing, the fuel surcharge is calculated using the formula: Base price + surcharge + GST = TOTAL
Fuel surcharge example calculation
Let’s say you’re a Level 5 Sendler, shipping some skincare samples using the 250g Sendle Pouch size from Surry Hills to Redfern:
Base price |
9% fuel surcharge |
10% GST |
Total |
$4.16 |
$0.38 |
$0.45 |
$4.99 |
In the above example, the fuel surcharge adds 38 cents to the cost of sending the parcel.
